Magical Christmas Books

Christmas is my favorite holiday season, and I’m not alone – Easter comes in at a close second! But the best part of this season for me is creating lasting family memories with my children and finding the perfect gift for everyone. Our kids’ faces light up with delight, and we can make it even brighter this year with the perfect gifts to make a magical Christmas.

And let’s not forget the magic of storytelling. Gathering around the fireplace or snuggling up in a cozy blanket, sharing stories of Christmases past, and creating new ones is a tradition that brings joy and laughter to all. From recounting childhood memories to inventing fantastical tales, the power of storytelling creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that is truly irreplaceable.

My children are 7 and 3 so I love giving them books to read.   Plus it is a gift to my husband and me as well we get something new to read them each night.

Let’s dive in and discover how you can create unforgettable memories and make this holiday season one for the books!

For all the moms out there who love a good laugh, “Unicorns are the Worst” by Alex Willan is the perfect read! My daughter and I love this book.

From its fun and adorable illustrations to its witty dialogue, this hilarious book will have your little ones rolling on the floor with laughter.

But don’t let its cute, pink-glittery facade fool you – it’s also great for boys, as it features a practical and hardworking goblin to contrast the mischievous unicorns.

This delightful story is a must-read for your family!

“It’s an undeniable fact that unicorns are the worst! Magic is serious business, but all unicorns do is frolic around, have tea parties, and leave glitter all over the place! They’re nothing like goblins—practical and hard-working, who can put magic to good use! Unicorns aren’t helpful at all.”

Curl up with your little ones and embark on a literary adventure with ‘Baking Day at Grandma’s’, by Anika Denise. Join three siblings as they take a wintery walk to Grandma’s house for a cozy day of baking and having fun.

To top it off, the book includes Grandma Rosie’s Chocolate Cake recipe so you can recreate the fun at home and make memories with your family!

So grab your aprons and a warm cup of cocoa, and get ready for a sweet journey filled with laughter and love.

Say goodbye to the Elf on the Shelf and say hello to our family’s magical gift-bearing Elf! He travels near and far, bringing joy to our children throughout the year to remind them of the love that Santa and Jesus have for them.

That’s why our Elf brought us the delightful book “How to Catch an Elf” by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton. With this hilarious holiday read, kids will find out what makes our special Elf different from the Elf on the Shelf, and giggle as he evades capture from the kids’ clever traps!

Moms, are you looking for a creative way to encourage your kids to be avid readers? Then look no further than Tom Fletcher’s ‘There’s an Elf in Your Box’ – a book that combines fun, surprise, and reading in one package.

Follow along as your children discover the exciting adventures of an elf on his mission to spread the Christmas spirit throughout the world. With this hilarious and enchanting tale, your kids will be captivated and motivated to read more!

As a mom, nothing is more delightful than snuggling up with your family and watching holiday movies. From the Grinch to the Peanuts gang, here are my top favorites:

Klaus

First up is one of 2019’s most beloved holiday movies, ‘Klaus.’ Stream it on Netflix for a heartwarming and memorable viewing experience. Your family will love it!

The Grinch

I grew up with the classic version of the Grinch, but there’s something about the 2019 remake that strikes a special chord.

The Santa Clause 3-Movie Collection

Nothing beats the classic Tim Allen movies! Now, you can watch the series on Disney Plus with your family.

The Christmas Chronicles Collection

Kurt Russell stars in this Netflix original – you won’t want to miss it!

Charlie Brown Christmas

Everybody loves the Peanuts gang, especially Snoopy and Woodstock. Be sure to add this classic to your family’s festive movie line-up!

Favorite Holiday Treats

As moms, we understand the importance of serving up culinary delights that not only satisfy the taste buds but also leave a lasting impression on our loved ones. From the mouth-watering aroma that fills the air to the satisfying taste that lingers on our tongues, food has a way of bringing people together and creating lasting memories.

Terry’s Milk Chocolate Oranges

Moms, Orange you glad you know about Terry’s Chocolate Oranges? With dark, milk, and white chocolate varieties, there’s a flavor for every preference. And while you can get Terry’s anytime online, you can only find them in your local store around the holidays. Our favorite is their Original Milk Chocolate, but we bet you’ll find something you love too!

Fruit Cakes

Something that has been joked about in every Christmas movie is the dreaded Fruit cake.  These fruit cakes from Collins Street Bakery in Texas are amazing. I’ve never personally tried one myself but watching how dreadful they are in books and television I reluctantly sampled one a few Christmases ago and was shocked at how yummy it actually was.

I purchased one for Christmas dinner two Christmases ago and it was reluctantly sampled by family members who were also surprised by how tasty it was and ended up being a favorite last year.

Plan on getting one or two this year as well!  Don’t worry if you aren’t based or visiting Texas You can find them online

DIY Edible Penguins

For those looking to add a special touch to their holiday festivities, I have the perfect solution! I turn to Pinterest for some fun and festive recipes that my children will love.

You will need:

  • Black olives
  • Carrots
  • Cream cheese
  • Toothpicks

Slice the carrots into circles and cut a small “V” in each circle slice to make feet and a beak for your penguin. I tried to substitute fresh Mozzarella pearls instead of cream cheese because my family uses many cream cheese-based sides at holidays, but the olives and carrots wouldn’t stick to the pearls — so cream cheese it was for the penguin bellies. Then slice olives in half for wings and a whole olive for the head. Lastly, stick a toothpick through your penguin and place the carrot beak in the opening of the olive, and wallah you have a penguin!

So if you’re a mom looking for something special to whip up this holiday season, give these penguins a try!
